Heading to the Bog on Sunday

Jim, I still have plenty of ribs and Admiral Rd is pretty well stocked. I noticed today the ones in my trunk were starting to smell a little ripe with the warm weather...lol

You will not have to wait long and the temps will get back to there below normal self again

I have plenty of ribs here also....more ribs then birds...lol!...........I'll be open and ready to go Sunday morning Jim/Jay....could just as well meet right at Ribs1 or 2.....just post a time!.....

Jonny you are the early bird so you tell me what time. I plan on spending most of the day chasing around so starting at ribs1 would be good unless you think a early option for something special might be better. No matter what I am game.

Jim,I was just outside and there is an 1/8" of glaze black ice over the entire area......the weather could certainly affect the roads for sunday morning....maybe a good idea to wait for the sunday meet and let this freezing rain pass...will be watching the weather before I make a final decision to head out sunday morning....

Black ice this morning....geesh!....34 degrees here in Hibbing ....bet the roads are like skateing rinks .....I think I need to follow a sanding truck to the bog....

It's 34 degrees here right now, and everything's melting. I expect the roads are wet rather than icy, and it's supposed to drop temps all through the day.

Question becomes, with the salt on the roads already and the additional stuff they'll be adding today, will they become skating rinks or will they stay wet for awhile and then dry as traffic wears away the moisture?

Looking at the weather it seems to be 34 everywhere which is great. I am hoping for the second part where the roads get dry

Well, that happens a lot. Things could pan out yet for you guys. I'll bet Hwy. 53 and other well traveled highways will be just fine by tomorrow a.m., and the gravel roads in the Bog sneer at freezing rain.

The best time to go is when the weather is bad. No one else is driving around, I didn't see a single person yesterday.

Doubly true on weekends, since weekends are typically when the Bog gets its influx of birders who are traveling to get there, and iffy weather forecasts tend to keep them from coming. You guys are probably looking at a good day. Looks like at least some nice sun, too, or bright overcast.

I took a chance!....the desire to find those owls is overwhelming! ....the roads are just fine as Steve said....regular, brown, slush buckets but not really "THAT" slippery.....but.....if they freeze,which they are going to do....areas with no salt may be slippery.....but....I'll be going Sunday anyways!...but only half a day!...gotta be back early afternoon ......
