Same quest! I have a female that I would like to have paired with a nice male (photographically speaking). One always seems to have a blue sky background, and the other white or cloudy. Bah humbug! Here's your start. I like the coloring. Are males more difficult to process? I think Steve mentioned desaturating. Your guy seems to have a nice, natural 'Christmas' red to him.

Birdsong, the tip was about desaturating slightly on brightly colored birds. If you add saturation, you kill some of the fine feather detail, so it's best to weigh which is the more important: feather detail or a blast of color.

Thanks, Steve, sometimes males seem to have a sort of neon haze to them just coming out of the camera. Eyeguy's has nice coloring as well as interesting coloring in the flora around him.

Thanks, it's fun learning with all the tips I get on here. I have cardinals around a lot but so dang cloudy usually.
