Twist rate question

Been reloading a number of years now. My Latest pet project is my Ruger 260 rem. The reloading data I have uses a savage rifle with a 1:9 twist rate. My ruger has a 1:8 rate. Does anyone know if twist rate affects velocity? This isn't a crucial thing for me, I'm an accuracy guy not a velocity nut. But I do like to have an idea where velocities are at because bullet performance on game is a consideration. Thank you for any input!

I believe that barrel length will have more effect on the velocity more than the twist will. Sounds like a nice project to be working on though.....
