RATTLE REEL WITH ROD?

Has anyone seen a rattle reel or similar that can be used in conjuntion with a rod so you can use the rattle reel to sense the bite and then fight the fish with a rod and reel. I love using rattle reel and have better luck with them but loose fish too often due to no drag and flex of the rod.

Thanks for any info.

There is an electronic option to the rattle real, I have used it a few times when fishing in a sleeper overnight. It attaches to your rod with a rubberband, and when you get a bite, the line pushes against a sensor and causes an alarm to go off on it. Seems gimicky, but it actually works. I got mine up on Red Lake a couple of years ago now.

Thanks,

I also read in the post "ralle reel. go wild!" that a few feet of line with a closepin tied to the end mounted on the rattle reel will do exactly what I want. You just attach the closepin (I think I will use downrigger snaps) to your fishing line of the rod and when the fish takes it it will spin the reel and you just unhook the closepin and use the rod and reel. I think this will be my new setup.

I do something similar, just wrap your line around the rattle reel after you got your line set up in the hole, strip off a little more to allow you to put your rod in a holder. When you get some action, just remember to unwrap your line from the rattle wheel the opposite way you wrapped it on.

Tie a swivel to the rattle reel end, then your rod line thru the swivel, then set the ice buster bobber to desired depth. Now you can detect bites with rattle reel an reel freely throu the swivel. Boar

I tried the clothes pin and a small spring clip but both were too heavy for the rattle reel (I like to set it so the jig is basically nuetrally bouyant). I came up with this. Run a rubber bobber stop up the rods line and use a quick clip and spread the clip open so it is easy to remove the line from the quick clip.
