Dunno about the great bass angler part, but...

I'm the Sr Editor of The Next Bite - Esox Angler magazine, which is a muskie, pike and walleye magazine, plus I do some writing for the In-Fisherman among others, and I write (somewhat haphazardly) a column for the MN Outdoor News.

I've been in and around the industry since working at the In-Fisherman's Camp Fish in the late 1980s when I was in college, so I have a lot of long time friendships in the industry too. Still kind of have to shake my head at it sometimes...
