Just wondering if an 18 year old without a watercraft operators permit can legally drive a 40 horsepower outboard.I thought you had to have the permit unless you were born before a certain date to drive anything over 25 horsepower, but after reading over the regs, they only put horsepower limits on ages 17 and under. Just trying to figure things out. Thanks in advance!!!

If you're over 18 you can drive anything according to the boating regs on the MN DNR page.

yep you just have to be over 17 years. 14-17 have to have a permit.
