My First Buck.

I didn't even realize this was a buck, until I got the picture on my PC. This was shot at about 2:30 this aftternoon. It was a gloomy day, for sure. I shot this handheld at 1/45 second, aperture of 5.6 and ISO 640.

Sweet velvety buck in the phlox flowers, XT!

I really like that one X, not an everyday combination with it being a buck and in the flowers, real clean look for low light conditions.

Actually, if it wasn't for the flowers, I'd probably have passed the shot up. It was the combo that really drew me. BTW, according to the state park ranger, the flowers are called Dame's Rocket.

Could be dame's rocket, could be phlox. Depends on the leaf pattern, which isn't clear enough here. Been wrong before, could be wrong here, no doubt I'll be wrong again.

Either way it's a nice shot, and I'm relatively certain it's a white-tailed deer!
