have a '96' sportsman 500 with a bad muffler. does anyone know a an aftermarket muffler that will work on this?

for that 500 motor, there are a couple slip on pipes that are good for performance

otherwise you need to alter your air filter, carb and clutching to really wake that motor up, but thats a whole nother can of worms.
