Hey Guys-

Glad to hear you guys are on the trout. I've yet to catch one. I have been more of a gill guy on Square. The bull gill has eluded me so far this year. I know Square has them.

I'm sure I missed the spawn... I went 3X this year with my fly rod and got a few gills and bass....nothing big.

I'm going out with a friend on Tuesday. I'm planning on hunting gills with my fly rod, but I may just bring a can of corn and my ultralight.

Ferny,

You are correct. My friend, who is an avid fly fisherman in Seattle, said that trout have excellent eyes/vision and will shy away from colored lines. This was true as my Fireline crystal pole produced no trout at a Colorado lake last week. After he gave me that info, and suggested I use either a fluorescent green or mono leader (I used mono), that pole and the rest of my set ups did much better.

What also worked like a charm in Colorado was Powerbait trout dough. The particular lake we fished had tones of crayfish, and all worms caught were crayfish. The dough actually floats, so that eliminated all the crayfish action. I'd bet smallmought bass would love being in that lake. wink
