Location of serial # on Boat and motor?

On the boat it is most likely, as you are standing and looking at the back of the boat from behind it's on the right outside of the boat near the top on the transum. On most motors it's on one side or the other of the motor. It's on the frame that is tight against the transum, or some times it's right under the front of the motor on the frame. Hope this helps. I know the last 2 numbers on the boat serial number is the year it was made.

Shouldn't it also be on the U.S. Coast Guard display of capacity yellow display plate, either on the console or near the transom?

nm, that's make and model...my bad.

Boat S/N's location should be were others have described it.

Motor S/N Location is somewhat brand dependent. Sometimes they're on a sticker attached to motor mounting bracket (that attachs to the transom), sometimes they're on the motor's midsection where the trim and tilt rams connect to and push against (but on the top side - not the side the trim & tilt works on), sometimes they're under the hood...

One older boat I had didn't have a serial number. When I registered it, I was told that the state would send me a hull ID but I don't remember if that ever happened.

My Sears cartopper has the SN stamped on the transom.
