Trail cams are a blast - you'll get some good advice as quite a few here use them. I've only used Cuddebacks so no input on the Moultries other than fact that I like that they have the temperature on the pics which is nice. I'd go IR... I've heard the flash will spook 'em but to an extent of not returning to the area? I don't know. I'd get a viewer too. I've got 3 cams up and I can take the viewer, put the card in & copy pics, & return the card to the cam in about a minute. You're not disturbing the area as much this way. Cuddies take compact flash cards, probably the same for Moultrie. Visit new egg dot com and order. Way cheaper than your box stores.

This will be a good time to put one up as you'll start to get some good fawn pics as well as watch velvet develop. Have fun!

hey, i have a Moultrie Game Spy 4.0 Megapixel Digital Camera and 2 wildview 4.0 digital camaras. I love them all but, the Moultrie is a better quality camara. The Moultrie is 99.99 dollars and will do everything you want. the Moultrie 5.0 megapixel is around 149.00 and has a view finder screen on the camara for viewing. I have to 1 gig sd cards (cost around 20.00 a piece) and just switch cards in the field and bring the one home and view the pictures. There is time and date stamp on all the camara's i mentioned above,,,which i think is a must!!! I have never had any trouble with the flash spooking deer. They've always come back,,,even mature bucks. the Moultrie is a good camara,,,muti shots,,muti delays,,,video,,auto flash,,great camara for the price....Hope this helps.....

I put a IR Moultrie up just over two weeks ago and will be going out on Saturday to check the pictures. I can't wait! I put it on a spot where 4 trails merge, dropped a salt block in the sweet spot, and dumped a bag of Fleet Farm deer feed there. It's in an area with deer, wolves, bears, turkeys, and just about everything else so I can't wait to see what has been walking by.
