Summer Storage - Ice Fishing Equipment

Trust me, it wont come down unless you bring it down. There is tension when you crank it up, so even if you stop, remove the crank, it wont just come flying down. Also, once you reach the top, you move over a little yellow bracket thingy into the I-bolt crank thingy so it cant even turn. See pics.

Overall, I really like my set up. I do wish it would have come with longer cable so I could lower it even lower...but I have high ceilings in my garage. See pic:

I ended up just backing my truck in place and lowering right in the back...so it worked out in the long run. You are going to enjoy it...great space saver.

Installed my Racor Heavylift the other night. Really like the product but because I have 10' ceilings and the lift only lowers 8' I was wondering if any one has replaced the cables with longer cables so that it reaches the floor? My Otter weights 240 pounds and it makes it tough to load on to the platform.

I have 12' ceiling in my shed. I repaced the cables and now I can lower it a the way to the floor. I can only raise it 10'. Works for me. I also made a rod to attach to a battery drill instead of the rod that comes with it. Goes up and down real easy and fast.

I live in a town home and the hoist works perfectly for getting the house out of the way during the summer. Money well spent....

Jump on it if they have it at Northern Tool. Last year when I was looking for one, nobody in town carried it. So, I had to order off of an auction site and pay like $40 in shipping.

I finally got a chance to install mine today and everything went pretty smoothly. A friend and his dad came over to give me a hand and the kids wanted to chip in too. I may replace the cables with some longer ones so that it goes all the way to the floor, but other than that I'm happy with it.
