tigerbalm2424
So i have been working on connecting an older lowrance X25 to my trolling motor universal sonar and am now realizing its not worth the effort as I am running into cabling issues, and its really not that nice of a graph to begin with. So. I think I am going to upgrade. My current console graph is the stock 98 eagle superID. I am looking for suggestions as to where I should put the new finder. The boat will be used mostly for bass/pike, using the trolling motor 90%+ of the time. Should I put the graph go on the console with the ducer in the back or on the bow with the ducer in the trolling motor? Will I see a quality diff between the OEM ducer purchased with the finder compared to that of the universal sonar in the TM? I plan to attend the electronics seminar at Thorne Brothers on Thursday. Just realized I have a limited amount of graphs that will work with the TM ducer. SI is out.
bassNspear
Place it wherever you think your going to use it the most. Nice thing about having it on the console, is you can drive around and learn alot about the lakes. Havingin it on the bow, you can fish with it.I would place the best one i have on the dash, and work from there.
bassislife
With what BNS said, I would also put the nicer sonar on your dash. If you do have a cheaper one I would put it on the bow. I've used flashers on the bow before and really like them, especially for bass fishing.
Central Bassman
I would also put it on the dash but i would make sure to mount it with as Ram Mount. That way when you are fishing on the bow you can just turn the locator towards you and keep fishing. The only really down site is you have to turn around to look at it. Musky_Madness
Console for sure. Especially if it is a GPS combo so you can log data while traveling across the lakes and mapping waypoints.

YUM
I have my better graph on the bow... I hated looking over my shoulder at my console graph... really annoying! It will be alot easier to follow/stay-on weedlines or whatever with the better graph on the bow IMHO. I hope to solve this dilemma next year my getting identical units at the bow and console
CarlWBL
If you have a unit you like, just buy another mount for the bow and another transducer and cabling. When u pull up to a spot, unhook your dash one and place it on the bow mount. That way you keep your waypoints and info on one unit with the flexibility to use it in both locations. katoguy
HB has a cable that allows the bow GPS and the console GPS to share waypoints. I would guess that Lowrance has something similar.
frogtosser
I put my new one on the bow, I am up front 90 percent of the time bass fishing and that way I dont have to run to the console every time i want to mark something. my console does have mapping on it so i just go off of that but its gray, and the new one is color which is awesome.
