Moose
I would like to build a rod but I need it to be able to breakdown into 3-2' sections in a light action 6-6.5' rod. I spend alot of time in the boundry waters and the rod needs to seperate to put into a case or a PVC Tube to protect it. How do I go about building such a rod? Do I need to buy the blank in this configuration or can I take a standard blank and cut it and flare it somehow? Any information you have I would appreciate. upnorth
You need to buy a 2 piece rod. Trying to make a 1 piece into a 2 piece can be done but it is more work than it is worth.

veha44
Check out some of the fly rod blanks depending on how light that you want to go. They routinly come in 4 piece rods and if you just get rid of the last section you would end up right around that 6.5ft length. I know a number of guys that have done this for crappie fishing.
