aquafang
does anyone use big lures or baits for big perch. Since most of the small perch won't leave the bottom, does anyone use a large bait 2 to 5' off the bottom and have the big perch come up and grab it? How big of lures do you use. Just curious. I got a tip this year and am going to try it.
Wables
Last year we started catching Jumbos on 5 in sucker minnows and red-tailed chubs while walleye fishing. Three or four times a day we would get a flag with what we thought was a small walleye and here it was a 14" perch!------------------Wables

Bigred70
I use Hali's biggest version with the dropper chain...along with the head of a fathead, its deadly for the jumbo's!
Lunker
When I'm fishing waxies or euros and can only pick up little guys, I'll switch to a big swedish pimple and a minnow head and the big boys tend to like that a lot more.
Guest
I like 1/8 oz spoons packed with maggots or else a 1 1/2 inch swimming rap with a minnow head on the treble. Seems to do the trick for those jumbos. Renneberg
I watched jumbo perch turn down a big bait only to come flying out of no where and slam a smaller lure once it was dropped down.I seem to catch most of my jumbo perch when I'm catching a ton of smaller perch. can it be luck?
I like to hole jump when perch fishing. The first couple of active biters will come well off the bottom to chase a bait, then you get a lot of "lookers". Jump around or throw a different bait at them to mix it up a little. My bait of choice has always been the Sweedish Pimples tipped with minnows or just the heads. However, after trying the Glow Devils, I will be useing them also. I like the weight, getting to the bottom fast is crucial.------------------http://groups.msn.com/canitbeluck
