fishermusk
I was wondering if the ice has gone out yet in the area? If not how much longer do you think?Good luckDave
Jarrod32
Haven't looked in a couple weeks, but there was easily 30" of ice a couple weeks ago when we were out. I'm gonna be out and about tomorrow, and will report back...but I imagine it will be at least a week or two yet.

Jarrod32
On Saturday afternoon, the James River was open; a few of the small sloughs and swamps were open; but any body of water of any size still had ice on it. It was some mighty gray, soft looking ice...but ice nonetheless. Not sure how this snow is going to affect it...we got a lot. It is a heavy, wet snow...it could put a lot of pressure on the ice, could insulate it...

fishermusk
It's getting close to my annual pilgrimage to SD for some muskie fishing, The lakes in east central MN are showing sighs of opening up in the next few days. How are the lakes in that area doing ? Thanks for any info.
cold one sd
I read on another forum that there was a pickup driving on one of the lakes in NESD last weekend. I think there is probably around 24" on the bigger ones at this time.
fishermusk
Wow that surprises me, The long range weather for Easter weekend is looking like a warming trend, and I was hoping to get over there then. I guess I will have to wait and see if the ice is gone by then. Thanks for the info cold one.

I was reading more posts yesterday and a guy was at Waubay last Saturday ne he said there was a little open water east of Grenville where the culverts go under the road. He went ice fishing and said there was 18" to 24" at that time.
aquafang
Any more ice out updates on Waubay lake? Can a guy get a boat out anywhere. Shouldn't be long now. Warmer weather and a chance of rain should eat it up
