Cooter
Also posted in WI forum, but for those interested WI will have a 2 day youth turkey hunt April 12-13, which is the weekend before the first season opens. More details on the WI DNR HSOforum. Great opportunity for a youngster to get a first crack at the longbeards.

Cooter
Good question....I'm assuming that once the 28th rolls around if he or she buys the tag, license, and stamp they would be good to go. From what I understand, it doesn't matter what time period or zone they hunt in, it is good for the youth hunt. If they kill a bird, they are done unless they buy a surplus tag. Hope this helps, if not I'll try when its not Monday morning!
nolte
It should be OTC, since all you have to do is buy a surplus tag in whatever zone you are want to hunt in. Most zones have a bunch of 6th season leftover tags, (except the ones farthest north). So just get one of those and then take the kid out the weekend before the first season starts. It's a great opportunity for kids. Heck, this is the first year that I've pulled the first season, and the kids get to go a week before me.
