MUSKY18
Anyone ever fish this lake? I have been looking through my musky lake book and looking for new lakes to give a try. This lake intriques me. Wondering if there were any size to the fish and how much structure the lake has?????
propster
Bret, are you talking about the one near Park Rapids or the one near Grand Rapids? The one near PR used to have muskies in it, but I don't think it's got many anymore.

CRBass
There is a thread from October 1st 2007, on page 3 of the Deer River/Marcell Forum discussing fishing on Spider Lake.Tried to post the link, but it didn't work.
Tippman
I know that it has the Shoepac strain of fish in it. A friend sure gets some fatties and know's the lake well. I however do not, sorry.
T-water
Spider is a real nice lake for muskie, more of a numbers lake, excellent for multi-species. I've stayed a few times at Spider shores resort, good people nice place. Really beautiful lake, quite a ways from the closest town. I'll be dreaming about the great times at Spider. demonjigger
It also is a good walleye lake. Has a special slot for northern. Good fishing all around. Nice crappie, 'gils, bass. Campsites are also above average. The area is also a great place for every kind of fishing...good luck
Fordo
I've fished Spider a few times and it has some nice Walleyes and Pike. The muskies are average - Most in the mid 30's. Like Tippmann said Spider has the shoepac strain so if your looking for some biggies this probably wouldn't be the best lake even though the fish do have some nice girth. If I was in that area I think i'd rather go to Deer Lake or Northstar. They have far bigger fish and are within 20 miles of Spider. My brother caught a 44lber last year on Deer and I've caught many in the upper 40" class on Northstar. Both excellent lakes.
