All Star Rods

Does anybody use these... I really like how they are made in USA and IM10 graphite looks like a solid rod for the cost. Also what are the pro's and con's of using a rod thats handle is split into to sections is it just a preferance or are those types of handles better in certain situations. Here is the rod I was looking at, If im not being very clear in my question.

Craig,

Haven't used one of those (yet) but I do have a handful of Platinum and Team Allstart rods and LOVE them. You won't be disappointed. I know Deitz just got some Cumara rods and they are the "split" Japanese style handle maybe he can help.

Looks to be like a sensor grip with a long piece of cork behind the reel seat. I have seen these but the cork is shorter behind the seat for better sensitivity on the hand.

I'm almost done building a new rod with the sensor grip in a spinning version. I hope to be netting some eyes with it on the river next week.

Thats what I figured, But I wasnt sure about the split in the handle (the large gap between the corks). Is it to make it lighter or balance better.

Ive got some kistlers basicly the company that started the split grips and no foregrip.

The less cork will make your rod lighter and more sensitive. The reel seats with exposed blank are a nice touch, too. I cant think of any downside to a split grip. It was kind of weird trying to cast two handed at first with the split grip but you'll adapt.

That looks like a decent rod...

I have a Cabela's XMLTi with a split grip like this.It makes the rod a whole lot lighter which allows for all day usage.

It's a also a neat arm rest which allows your arm to settle on the grip's butt without rolling off to the side since the "middle part" of the grip is an exposed "shaft".

Does anybody know when retail stores start getting new 2008 models? Ive tried everywhere to find this rod but have had no luck!

I have even tried online at cabelas and even they says its backordered for 3-4 weeks. Any suggestions?

All-Star just started getting them for delivery so 3-4 weeks sounds right. I have one coming that is out until 4/10

Just have to wait and be happy I can't really use it yet anyways.
