ptkane
Any of you smart guys have input/theories/comments on how you set your variable/centrifugal/magnetic braking system for your baitcasting reels?
JP Z
ptkane which reels are you talking about? I generally set 3 of the little deals on my pflueger summits, and Shimanos....

TonkaBass
When it comes to baitcasters, the spool tension knob slows the spool throughout the cast while the braking system slows the spool towards the end of the cast. If you are new to baitcasting, it's sometimes best to turn many of the brakes on. As you get more experienced you can turn almost all of them off and just mess with the spool tension knob from time to time.
Ralph Wiggum
I generally have two or zero of the weights on. Now if it's windy and I'm casting into the wind, I will turn 4 or all of them on.

Deitz Dittrich
Heres the deal.. anti backlash is a combination of both the clutch(knob under the break) and the other system, which ever it may be. It will depend on lure weight, what type lure it is, and wind direction. for instance.. a spinnerbait casted into the wind.. I'll have just about all of them on and the clutch really light.. for a crankbait with the wind, I'll have them all off and the clutch light...I'll change both knobs hourly if needed, depending on wind and lure weight and type of lure.
