Anybody heading down there this spring? I've gotta scratch the itch, June is sooo far away right now!! I'm heading down March 29th through April 4th. Gonna fish with Tony Grant and Gregg Thomas, 1 day each then try it on our own.

What about you guys?

Cheers

Jeff

PDX, what's the ice situation down there on Kinkaid, have you heard? I did hear of some open water action there about a week ago. With this cold snap we had recently, I'm wondering if it's iced back up?

Last Chad said a couple days ago, his buddy caught a 37" casting, water was open and in the upper 30s. Supposed to start warming up again Sunday. I fear it won't be enough to be particularly pleasant on the water :P

Chad's booked until the middle of July, so I didn't have many options...

Well, Aaron has a story of his buddies boating 22 in two days with Chad in March. Though, that is Chad's record (fast warmup after a long cold front and the only boat on the water). March is the best month there, but I think his schedule fills up fast.

Hey Matt, glad you're here. I think this is a pretty good crowd, enjoy it. This Sunday is the lure swap I mentioned, hope you can make it!

mtreno- did you guys head down through Chicago? I was thinking of heading down I35 and then cutting east from Missouri and trying to avoid the mess known as Chicago...we'll be towing a boat too.

we went thru chicago - or the west side area - think it was only two tolls and we timed it so is was afternoon time so there was no traffic. just hold on seems like everyone drives at least 85mph and has no room for a guy and his boat..... once past chicago its nothing but farm land - very pretty. on our way home we stopped at shelbyville for a few days and then cut up thru Iowa. this year i think we will go the same route down but who knows where we will end up on the way home.

we are leaving the 29th as well - we should maybe hookup for the ride down. are you staying at Tony's place?

Thanks for the tips on traffic, we're heading down right around the same time and staying at Tony's place. We were going to leave on Friday the 28th around noon or so. Let me know if that fits when you guys are going!

crazyfish, i've heard good things about Green River too. Planning on it at least a day.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
