Help needed with power auger

I have an Eskimo auger that isn't running right. It will eventually start after many pulls and feathering with the gas/choke but acts as though fuel is detonating in the carb and pops or backfires through the aircleaner. I took the airbox, carb, and muffler off to do some investigating and everything seemed to be fine. I am going to put some fresh gas in and try it again as the gas in the tank is rather old. I did also put some seafoam in the tank as well. Just thought some folks may have some more insight as to what is going on. Any input is greatly appreciated.

If it smells like varnish its bad. I had that happen with the first gal I mixed this winter. New mix and a new plug for good measure and good to go.

Try the fresh gas first and check fuel line connections.

A carb cleaning and kit is most likely what your looking at.

sounds like you need a carb kit.

Any idea where I could pick up a carb kit for one of these augers? have been looking online and can't find the right one. I have an older model not sure which one off hand.
