Can't cancel pending print job - Win XP

I tried printing some invoices tonight, and the printer didn't print.

I cancelled all of the pending jobs, except the first one I tired printing just hangs there with "deleting" after it.

I've already tried deleting the printer itself, but it's on a network, and just comes back with the 1 pending job still.

Anyone else have a solution??

I suppose I should delete the printer from all the computers on the network as well??

Did you cancel the job and then reboot your PC?

Also while rebooting the pc, reboot your router/hub and also the printer.

I should also add to that, did anything change from the last time you printed?

I would shut down the PC all together, unplug your printer from the wall for about 2 or 3 minutes. Then you can turn them both on and should be OK. Something stuck in the printer RAM I would think.

I had a similar problem about a week ago (with a print job and the printer on a network). It took rebooting the printer and the computer 3 or 4 times for both with trying to delete the print job every time before it finally cleared. I really don't know what I did differently other that try several times. Perhaps you haven't kicked it hard enough (I have a battery backup UPS on both and I powered it down too.) Try powering down all the way and wait 10 or 15 minutes before coming back on.

Another thing to try... make sure it didn't somehow set a check by the "Pause Print Job" setting. You cannot delete a print job if it is paused, I don't think.

Right click on my computer and go to manage, then go to services, then stop the print spooler, you should then be able to delete the print job, restart the print spooler.

So far I've done everything, including stopping the spooler and restarting.

I got it to work once, printing a web page while I was chatting with an HP tech online, but as soon as I said "hey, now it's working again" and quit talking with the tech, it's not working again.

We were just starting the diagnosis process, so we hadn't gotten to the point of getting a fix yet.

Right now I've deleted the printer from every computer on the network, and am working on reinstalling it.

If this doesn't work, I'll be back, looking for anyone else's suggestion.

After completely ridding all the network computers of the wireless printer, and reinstalling the software, everything works again.

Now I can print from anywhere in the house to wherever again.

Sometimes these new print drivers are a pain in the $$$, they seem to go corrupt on a regular basis. Another thing that comes to mind as soon as I seen wireless, is how is your printer getting it's IP address? If it getting an address through DHCP (automagically) rather than staticley assigned when you restart the wireless adapter it maybe be getting a different IP address and the rest of the PCs on the network won't be able to send to it. Unless you can do a static DHCP assignment from your wireless router you may want to statically assign an IP address that way, that is unless you already have that issue covered.
