Well, seeing as it's cutting into my "Fishing Fund" I'm going old-school, as easy and painless as possible. I hope I didn't just jinx myself by using the words "easy" and "painless".....

I'll look at it when done and think, you should have been a couple of Curado 300 DSVs!

I'm one my own with the 2 and 4 year old daughters and was planning on going to the fishing contest on Centerville and Pelltier Saturday but I'm thinking it will be too cold for them so I'll have to come up with a plan B. I haven't been to it before but have heard its a good time. Do most of you guys ice fish too - this is my first year and so far I have a hard time not getting bored to quickly - I haven't had a follow yet either!! \:\)

Pike, pike, and pike. I'm breaking out the tip-ups and lake trout gear and going after the 20+ lber that has been seen in the spearhouse a number of times. Walleyes will likely be shut down at least tomorrow. Just checked the weather channel, the Falls made the big map with -49 wind chills...just in time for the weekend eek.gif

All I know is I've been stuck in Crookston chasing crappies for long enough and I'm ready to go after big fish on big water. Good luck to everyone else dumb enough to be on the ice in a portable!

Well Chris - today (morning) I went looking at new blinds for our windows downstairs. Funny thing is, I had no idea we needed them, but apparently we do, and I wonder why I can't get an xBox 360. Afternoon I spent in the chair watching Independence Day, so all in all not to horrible a day.

Tomorrow - I'm sure we'll have some crazy idea, like going through old bills, paperwork, credit card offers and all the fun stuff, keeping what we need and shredding what we don't. At least I can watch TV while doing that.

right now I'm playing with my server and creating virtual servers just for fun, man I need to get out more.

Chris... you could've asked for help, you know??? LOL

Well... after three weeks of cleaning n cleaning out the garage (Still not done) I finally cleared out enough space to FINISH my custom entertainment center... and now its all done... I took a break and vegged out today... Will veg out tomorrow too... before I tackle the garage again on Monday... I needed the wood that I already cut for the entertainment center out so I finished that yesterday... Now thats done... back to cleaning and organizing the garage... I'll be making a custom rod rack which I'll attach to the ceiling... it'll be OUT of way... and easy to get to when Im heading out for some fishing... Plenty projects to keep me busy til the Expo...

Oh yeah... cleaning out your garage can be good... I ended up with PLENTY of scrap steel, aluminum, copper, and brass that I got $261 from the recycling place... Yep that $261 is going to the Expo fund... LOL

RU.....a cold weekend indoors somehow stimulates the domesticated "Martha Stewart" side of the brain in the Mrs., doesn't it? Ha ha!

As long as we're totally off subject...my fault of course! I have a non-fishing question. Rebel got me thinking......Anyone know where to get rid of a 50 gallon water heater? Don't even care about some salavge $$$, just want it gone.....

Sorry I can help with the water heater, but if it makes all you guys who stayed home feel better, we didn't have much luck today. A flag within 2 minutes had hopes running high, but she let it go right away. Two snot-rockets was all we managed for about 4 hrs. of fishing. -55 windchills tonight and not much better tomorrow...might be a good day to watch people catch fish on tv.

I rearranged all my baits in my boxes (I just received my order from AWH so I had to make room), big and small, and sharpened all my hooks. I also, following the tip from Saric, turned my glide bait trebles into a T shape. I replaced some hooks on small Jakes and Baby Depthraiders with larger Owner hooks. I spooled my first Red Isis reel with my first Cortland Masterbraid. I searched for my Reapers and decided I must have left them in Minnesota. I wondered how I was going to get all my junk on the plane when I make my first trip of the season out there.

I then realized I really should replace my water heater and stop spending money and time on fishing stuff in the offseason.

You'll like the Cortland line! I tried three different lines last year and I think the Cortland is the front runner for '08 respooling.

I also T the hooks on topwaters too, saves on lure wear and has no ill-effects in my opinion.

Chris... I would definitely take the hot water heater and disassemble it myself but given the fact that you live in Maple Grove and I live in Bloomington... gas plus time spent to disassemble that myself wouldnt be worth it... From what I know... theres plenty of copper and aluminum in a hot water heater...

"T" the hooks??? How do one do that??? Got a pic of that so I could get an idea of what you are talking about???

Go to the "Video Tips" section on Muskyhuntertv.com HSOforum. Just take pliers and bend the hooks into a "T" so that the treble doesn't wrap around the bait, rather sticks out at an angle from the bait. That way the points don't take off your paint and you have a better hookup % since the points stick out from the bait rather than stay flush against it.
