Since my brother and a buddy backed out of our annual ice fishing trip to NE IA last weekend, I was thinking about a "Loser" Day trip. My brother lives in EC and my buddy and I are from the Twin cities. Mille Lacs is not great this year, so that means we are looking at EC instead. We tried Red Cedar last year, and we should have known it was a lost cause when there were no, and I mean NO perm shacks out there. What other lakes are doing well around EC? or within an hour of EC.....thanks

You just stay the heck away from here Picks grin.gif I might provide some info - how much land does your brother own out there by Lowes Cr park, lots of deer 'round there ;\)

Seriously, the fishing has been slowing down around here but for nice fish Altoona is your best bet. Its hit and miss not only from one day to the next but also during a particular day - nothing for an hour, then they hit for 45 min then shut off again....typical mid-winter ice fishing. But again the fish you get are usually nice sized.
