I cannot say for sure in regards to handling, but I would think handling would be pretty similar between and 18.5 foot and a 20 foot boat ------ and once you'd used it a few times and gotten used to it you'd be fine.

You'll get a better ride and better stability in a longer boat, there's no question about that.

Rodmaker,

I had a 17.5' with a 1154S on it. I really liked the boat but sold it to a buddy of mine when I got my divorce.

I also still have a 22.5 with a cuddy etc. but it is more of a great lakes boat. just not manuverable and very hard to fish alone.

As Perchjercker says I don't think the handling would be that much different from a 18.5 to a 20. My reason for the 20 is I fish Mille lacs 80% of the time and the other 20% is big water also. LOTW, Lac Suel etc. and I want a larger boat. I just like the feel of a big boat when the wind comes up on a big lake and you have to get back with 8-10' rollers. I am a firm believer that bigger is better in bad conditions.

Rodmaker,

I don't see how you can go wrong with any of these boats. I believe you said you are looking for one a few years old but I think the first year for the Yarcraft was 06 or 07. I could be wrong. I would also plan on jumping fast if you do find a 20 BT as they will go fast. I think there is starting to be allot of interest in these big water tillers. Of course this will make many more 18 BT's available at a good price.

Guys,

With respect to e-mailing each other information -

While there's nothing wrong with it, the intent of these forums is to share information with everyone, not serve as a bulletin board for private discussions offline where the information isn't shared with all of those who have taken their time to offer information in this thread.

Thanks!

The few e-mails I have exchanged off line was to inquire about if he knew of anyone selling a boat or where I can go (other web sites) to find out more.

I'll continue to post here for questions or comments on anyone having these boats that will be helpful in my selection

Sorry if that was taken the wrong way - no intention on abusing the forum.

Hope there are no hard feelings- and this post will continue.

I agree the purpose of the forum is to share information and that is what I was trying to do. There are other very good websites out there where this topic has been hashed over 100s of times and some good information can be obtained by looking at these other sites.

I was simply trying to point this gentleman in the right direction. I would have posted a link to the information but apparently that isn't allowed or even mentioning another HSOforum.

Here's a new question. I have heard a few complaints about the Rangers being a little narrow. 90" beam.

The YarCrafts are 95". Does that extra 5" make that much more as far as being stable???

I not sure if the extra 5" gives you any extra stability but last year I was fishing out of a Yar craft 1895 storm bt that I borrowed from work, my boss was fishing out of a 2095 bt, another friend had a ranger bt(I think 619) and one more had a lund Pro V up on Winnie and it was windy and we all were trying to drift the two Yarcrafts could drift sideways fine and the other two were chasing there nose.

Ranger's new hulls have a 96" beam. The 619 got a new hull makeover in the past year and the 621 and 620 a few years ago.

Ranger never lets any info out early. The first you will hear of anything is when they release it to the public, or through the dealer meetings they have if you know someone who is at the dealer meetings.

My bad - I was looking at, and am more familiar with, the VS's (console steering) instead of the T's (tiller). Correct, the T's are 90".
