bait for catfish

I was fishing today, looking for a new spot to move the house. I was putting the camara down looking for rocks and the fish that would not bite. They were catfish. What kind of bait or lures should I be using?????

They were rutting and digging around in the bottom big time. I counted as many as 6 at a time.

I have never fish them before so I'm asking how.

I will use minnows and cutbait for them when I target them through the ice. I do go with smaller hooks and smaller baits in the winter than I would in the summer.

There are articles all over on catfishing through the ice, and several good posts on here as well.

Today I was there with the camara down. They were lay on the bottom not moving, the one I dropped a jig with minnow heads and it hit him on the head. It moved about a foot and dropped back to the bottom. The few minnow tail that we dropped down the holes are gone, so we will stop doing that. I will see if I can some kind of food that they would be after. I going to check out if I can hook tha camara up to the tv.

I use to fish Coon Rapids Dam during the winter and did excellent with the Catfish... But this was back in my highschool days... The bite, was phenominal though!!! I caught a lot of trophy catfishes during that time.
