Fish Trap Scout?

For those of you that own one or have fished out of the Scout, where do you put your feet when you sit inside it? Do you slide the seat back and sit with your feet inside the sled, or do you keep your feet out on the ice. Also, is there plenty of room for a 28" rod, or is a 24" preferable.

Welcome to the site!

This is more of a preference question I guess. I really like my scout and I primarily use it for sight fishing panfish so I prefer to use an 18" rod and put my feet on either side of the hole. There is room for a 24" rod depending on what you are fishing for but IMO a 28" rod is a bit long for this little shack. If you are planning on watching a bobber you can actually fit two holes inside and put your feet on the front edge of the sled as you stated.

i put my buddy heater either behind me on the two bars or in between my 2 holes in the front of the shack... then i scoot my seat all the way up and put my feet on the ice and marcum on the right or left side of my shack depending on which hole you are jigging in..

Hope this helps

The seat is the reason I got a Pro instead of a Scout. That, and the Pro is something like 13" wider and only 6 or 7 pounds heavier, so I said "why not" and got the Pro.

The Pro was $300 while the Scout was $200, so it was 50% more money which I thought was a lot for the small differences between the shacks, but I thought I'd be happier with the Pro so I went for it.

I don't know if you can change the seat for a Pro seat or not.
