Strikemaster blade bolts, check them for tightness.

I have the two blade strikemaster. Have had it two seasons, like it a lot. I did however almost lose a blade the other night. The two bolts holding the blade to the auger worked loose. the other blade was working loose also. Stopped in at Strikemaster world headquaters in Big Lake and they gave me a some new bolts gratis. Point is, I recommend you check them periodically. It would have ruined a trip if I had been up on Mille Lacs. I now carry four replacement bolts and an 8 MM wrench in my Auger case pocket.

When you are cutting with loose blades it is very easy to bend the bottom of the auger and throw the blades out of pitch. I use lock tite on the blade bolts, and have never had one loosen up.

how are they working loose aren't they using nylock nuts?

They are not nutted on the lazer. They are bolts with teeth behind the head, and go from the top down into the blade. It has been 5 years or so since I got rid of my SM chipper, but I recall those using nutted bolts. There is a great pic of how the lazer bolts go in the gear for sale thread under SM auger.

I have a 224 and lost one of the little ones earlier this winter, but luckily it was in the sluch pile next to the hole. I lost the bolts though and now I have them all Lock Tighted.

When it has all four blades, the thing cuts like nothing else.
