MINNEAPOLIS -- The Twins and right-hander Matt Guerrier agreed to a one-year, $950,000 contract on Thursday, avoiding salary arbitration.

Guerrier went 2-4 with a 2.35 ERA and one save in 73 appearances for the Twins in '07, emerging as one of the club's more dependable relievers.

The right-hander had asked for $1.15 million next season while the Twins submitted an offer of $750,000. But less than a week after numbers were exchanged, the two sides agreed to settle at the midpoint. Last season, Guerrier made $407,500.

Guerrier's contract now leaves outfielder Michael Cuddyer as the Twins' only remaining arbitration-eligible player. Cuddyer, who made $3.75 million last season, filed for $6.2 million while the Twins offered $4.7 million.

The two sides still have some time to agree on a deal. Arbitration hearings are scheduled to take place from Feb. 1-21.

The Twins also announced Tuesday that they had agreed to one-year deals with Minor Leaguers Bobby Korecky, Matt Macri, Jose Mijares, Jason Pridie, Denard Span and Matt Tolbert.

Matt had a great year, I think $950,000 is a good deal for a guy who really proved himself last year. Hope Cuddy settles soon, but $6.2 mill? Anybody think he's THAT good?

He is about an average to a little above average corner outfielder. His salary claim of 6.2 is about league average I would say for an outfielder of his caliber. What this means though, is that he would be looking at something like a 4 year 30 million dollar contract also.

Guerrier has been solid out in that bullpen for years. He has finally gotten his shot as one of our main setup men and has proven himself. Good guy to have out there.

Hate to disagree with you, but I think Cuddyer has by far the best arm in at least the AL, if not all of MLB in the OF. He has thrown out many, many ppl at both 3rd and at home both in the air and on one hop with deadly accuracy. THEN- teams quit trying to run on him.
