Fishing near aerators

It would seem to me that in shallow lakes this time of year that the bulk of the fish would congregate near aerators. Is this assumption true? Other than not getting too close and consequently falling through the ice, does anyone have any tips on fishing near aerators?

Usually, in my experience when the areators are turned on the fish are already neutral to negative due to the low o2 supply. The fishing is difficult and the fish are already stressed so a c&R is not always viable. The fish ae more interested in surviving rather then eating. Just my .02 lakes fished:(Peltier, Centerville, shields) to name a few. The stress period doesn't last when a thaw comes and the late ice ops can be very good on these lakes with areators. Just stay away from the areators late ice and as the lake comes back try your luck as you may be the only person fishig it!

Good points. The "lake" I'm going to be fishing is more like a pond and the aerator has been running since ice up. A buddy of mine told me yesterday that the fish are still very active, so active in fact that the schools of crappies are difficult to stay on top of. I'm wondering if concentrating around the aerator would be a good tactic.
