irishwalleye
Would any recommend towing a 4-wheeler with a 4-cyl vehicle? The truck isnt always available when I want to go fishing so I was hoping to put a hitch on the car.600 lb 4-wheeler -- simple 2 place trailer.Owners manual states ability to tow 2000 lbs/200 lb tounge wgt.Mechanics at dealership dont really have an opinion as it doesnt come up very much.Should I just forget about it? 0 ChuckN
In my younger years in college I towed a lot with a 4cyl Plymouth Sundance 5 speed. Whenever I moved I hauled my furniture on a trailer, snowmobile, small boat... Stopping was the issue, so just make sure you can stop when you need to with any kind of load.Personally, I don't see it being an issue with an ATV and a small trailer. 0 Shack
I will start off saying a car is not made for pulling. With that said, the manual Trans is a plus and if you have a hitch on it, see how it pulls. Start out slow and feel the car. In my younger years, I pulled plenty of stuff with cars that had manual's. It will be a pull, but give her a good old MN try. The clutch is the only thing that will be suffering during your pull. Well, the axles and drive train might see their fare share of the action.Good luck! 0 upnorth
Like mentioned earlier make sure it stops OK. It ain't always about the power to move it, you also got to stop it. The brakes on a truck are much larger than on a car.
0 Shack
Good point UpNorth Originally Posted By: upnorthStart out slow and feel the car.I should have worded this a little better. By me saying starting out slow, I ment at first, take extra caution during all times while driving.Good luck and have your brakes checked.
