Crow River

Anyone ever ice fish the Crow river? I fished the last 2 days 2-3 hours each day in a 6 foot deep spot. Deepest spot by 2 feet by at least a quarter mile. The spot produces fish all summer and fall. All kinds of fish, Walleye, Catfish, Carp, Suckers, Bullheads, and a few other in moderation. I'm using Crappie and Fathead minnows, on a regular icefishing jig, and not a bite. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong, or some other type of place I should try.

My guess is that fish moved out,maybe way out if they stayed thet would risk,freezeout,low oxygen,mink,not enough deep holes to go to & from,So I'll guess ya have to wait till spring thaw.

River fish will probably winter in/near a deeper spot. Try to find a >10' hole.

If anybody can find an area 2 miles or less away from where I am fishing that is 10 feet deep please tell me, because this is one shallow river. I am on the Babcock or CR. 1 bridge, and have gone up and down the river.

I agree that the fish have moved to deeper water. Have you checked the temperature of the water where you're fishing? Based upon the little I know about suckers, northerns, and walleye, they migrate downstream to deeper, slower water, and then migrate back upstream in the spring to spawn.

hmmm. i have a friend at work who successfully ice fishes the crow for crappies. but she is up by Delano where there are apparantly some deeper spots.

i have never fished it in the winter time. When i was younger, we usta get walleyes in glencoe all the time. But i have not fished it since high school
