Bobb-o
not completely positive but i think a strikemaster won the brainerd jaycee's contest for stock augers. ------------------"If I get any dumber, I am gonna need to wear a helmet"
metrojoe
There was also one on Gull Lake(?). Where a home brew auger drilled three 8 inch holes in 11 seconds. It was a Strike Master Auger fitted to a gas Chain saw.
Steve Foss
Yes, the winner of the off-the-shelf competition was a Strikemaster. It was the Lazer cutting system, rather than the chipper blade.

the big dipper
I've got an old VW aircooled bug engine that I could weld some handles on and mount to a 16 " auger. It might take four guys to hold, Lets see? I think the motor is approx 65 HP ??? Any volunteers for the trial run??

SpikeRoberts
On Sunday, Channel 5's Jason Davis hosted a half-hour program dedicated to ice fishing. He covered the Brainerd Jaycees contest, Leech's eelpout fest, and the Breezy Point/Pelican Lake "ice fishing olympics." The auger contest was featured in the "olympics" and an auger with a chainsaw power drive crushed in the "modified" category. You wouldn't believe how fast that thing cut a hole -- I would love to have one

StrikeMaster with custom bit an fueled Nitro Methane!I took second place in the Stock division and my friend took second in the Mod division. All the reps. were up there from various companys. Yes, the reps did race there augers. Some didn't fair to well. I raced a Lazer Express and won a trophy and a Jiffy auger as a door prize. It was a awesome time up there. So if anbody has any ideas about making a modified auger let's do it. I am a machinist and can modify any auger. It is the motor we would have to work on. That modified auger that too first place was awesome. Ice flying every where.Spike.. You didn't happen to tape Jason Davis last week did you? My wife forgot to put a tape in the VCR.peace,sj 1ST Pace
