Swimbaits and Fish Head spins

Hey Guys, seeing that the bass forum is a little slow and I'm bored at work, I thought I'd ask your opinion on these two baits that have recently grown popular yet have been around for quite awhile:

Swimbaits

Fish Headspin

These baits are very similar to the age old spinnerbait in terms of how they are fished. Adding a sunfish or perch colored fluke to the fish head spin will give you a perfect match for the forgage here in our natural lakes. I personally like the looks of these baits and think they could be awesome on lakes where fish see way too many spinnerbaits. I will definately be giving them a try this year in hopes of putting a few more fish in the boat. Will they become the new spinnerbait? Any other thoughts?

Years ago I used to throw a lot of road runners.. much like the fish head. They made them large enough to bass fish with... I used to put a 4" worm on it and throw it all day long.. caught a ton of bass on it... havn't thrown one in probably close to 15 years though...

I did throw swim baits quite a bit last year with some very good success... I either tossed a Mr.Twister Sassy Shad, or the Storm lures swim baits... They are very good looking! I have even taken a sassy shad and put it on a spinnerbait after I removed the skirt... That worked quite well too...

I really like swimbaits like the one picture above, I think with the type of cover we have here in Minnesota that it works great for coving water. Most of the time we are fishing some type of grass in Minnesota and a swim bait moves throw the grass perfect and get reaction strikes. I will be throwing move of them this coming seasons.

I do use a lot of road runners for crappie fishing but cant say I will be using the head spin anytime soon.

the swim bait and the size it shows on my 17 monitor is a lot like a minnow bait [micro minnow 3 inch ]berkly that we have been having a great deal of sucess with on Green Lake at Spicer.

The last two seasons I have been using it with some three eighths ounce gypsy jigs that northland tackle gave me to try.

We always had good luck using it on eigth ounce store stockgypsy jigs in pink or orange but fish would straighten out hook or simply get off.

We fished it on ends of deeper rock bars 13 to 18 feet when fishing would be a little slower[if you could imagine slow on Green]right off bottom

The minnow was available for few years for us to give out at clinics etc and was a killer for crappie and sunfish and was more fun when we figured smallies loved it.That minnow is now in the GULP jars so just thought everyone should know that it works for smallies too.

Another highlight is that the same small 3 incher was used in chartruse to win a major walleye tourney last year and the guy in that cut half an inch off it to win something like 100 grand.

we use it with no head on it in silver gray. And we hook it so tail end sits at about 2 o clock[mimicks a shrimp]

and that is my tip for this summer ,figure everyone will forget it by spring .Any good tips out their??
