I just confirmed via the DNR HSOforum that fishing licenses are now valid through April 30, 2008.

DNR Hunting regs, page 18

The CO I spoke with yesterday thought this was the case, but couldn't confirm it. I'll let him know where to find the info next time I see him. Apparently, even if your license says it expires Feb, 29, 2008, it'l be good through April 30, 2008.

I believe that is for the Sportsman’s License only at least that is how I interpret what I read.

This is what I read in the DNR Hunting Regulations:

License Year

Resident fishing, the angling portion of a sporting license, nonresident

fishing, resident fish and dark house and nonresident fish house

licenses are valid March 1 and end April 30 of the following year. All

other licenses are valid during legal seasons between March 1 and the

end of February

Sportsmen license is Fishing and small Game. I justed call and they said April 30 for just what the first post said.

Just want to make sure I understand this correctly, instead of buy a new license March 1 to keep catching panfish we don't need to buy a new one until May 1st? Wonder why they don't just change it to be by the calendar year.

Sweet! I missed that one, and I was planning on getting another Individual sports license before going to the Rainy River at the end of March. Thanks Zzapp!

Wow! That's great news, and makes perfect sense for those of us who like to panfish through the late ice period. First, I don't need a tag for my portable, now this! What's going on around here?
