On the Mississippi you'll have to come downstream for a ways- I'm not aware of any significant populations upstream from St. Cloud....

as might be expected, the fish tend to trend larger as the river widens.

For icing cats, some folks have decent luck on the Horseshoe chain. there are those who would advocate fishing river ice, I however am not among them, please excercise _extreme_ caution on any ice over moving water!

that being said in the summer if you go farther south, the Minnesota also has a nice population of cats in it.

Keep your eye on the Catfish board, we get to be a pretty lively bunch in the warmer months!
