Thompson Center Encore (pro Hunter) or Triumph ML owners...like'em?

I would like to hear from anyone owning the Encore, both the reg. or the Pro Hunter or the new triumph that are out...

Is that swing hammer on the Pro Hunter really needed to get around a mounted scope? Looking to mount a 1X scope ( legal in ML season) and was wondering about that.

Any info appreciated!

Managed to get a decent 8 pt this past season with electrical tape wrapped around the cap to keep in place on my old TC Black Diamond... I just want to get a closed breech system so I don't have to fiddle with a leather strap to keep the snow out.

I have the Pro Hunter Camo with Thumbhole. I love the gun but I wouldn't spend the money on the thumbhole. I do love the swing hammer and it does not kick. First year I had it I shot a doe with it and i never lost sight of the doe when I shot it was pretty awesome. I do like the technologies behind the pro hunter with that stock but only thing I would do differnt is get the regular stock. I do have a 243 barrel for mine and also enjoy that too. I bought mine the first summer that it came out and I don't regret it one bit. I got it from the sports shop in Perham. They had to order me in that gun and they charged me 750 with sales tax. Now you can find the regular stock black for more then that. So definately shop around and see what they are willing to do for you. Reason I got the Pro Hunter over the omega or something like that is I wanted to trade barrels on it.

I have one with both the ML barrel and a .270 barrel. On the 270, I have a Burris Fulfield II scope. In that setup, the scope is a bit too close to the hammer, and I am thinking about changing my scope bases to the look through type in order to gain a bit more room between the scope and the hammer.

That said though, I really like the gun. Really nice quality and very comfortable to shoot.

fishermn, I am assuming you have an encore, not a pro hunter with swing hammer? I have been trying to figure out if I really want that composite stock as I like to track and when you go through the brush, it smacks loudly against the composite stock. The newer Triumph seems to have a more solid stock but I still prefer wood ( looks nicer too). Most of the retailers don't have the pro hunter with the wood stock ( as the stock is one of the selling points) but I guess I could later change it out but the pro hunter is about $200 more... I also would get a .270 barrel (and foreend) for mule deer and antelope hunting. Thanks for the info guys!

I also have a Pro Hunter. I absolutely love it! I put a Nikon Omega muzzleloader scope on mine so I could use it during the regular firearm season. The swing hammer is great, otherwise its kinda tricky to get it cocked with that scope on there. I plan on getting a .270 barrel for it also, and possibly a 7mm for elk hunting. I bought mine the first year they were out, we just bought another one this summer for my hubby and he loves it just as much as I do. They are a very comfortable gun to shoot and very versatile with the multiple barrel options. I also recommend to shop around as every place seems to be different on their prices. If you do get one, I promise you that you will fall in love with it!

Yep, Encore. Thats why I bought the .270, eventually I would like to getr out west and do some antelope and Muley hunting. I think just changing the scope mounts to something with a bit more clearance will solve the problem for me. The other thing I like about the gun is that its a great gun for the kids to use. Solid, accurrate, and only one shot, so they have to make it count.

I have a .45cal Encore ML and love it. Look for a rifle barrel, thinking in .223. I have enough big calaber guns. I would go the Encore pro hunter or traditional.

I don't think you can put a scope on the ML even if it is only 1X, might want to check the regs. I could be wrong, but I thought it was open sights only during ML season.
