Jim Hudson
BearFrom a few days ago, I heard most areas had 8 inches or so... But with snow and slush pockets, the ice varied too.. So it is fishable, but becareful on your first venture out.
Dooley87
thanks jim, i'm about 200 miles away and i didn't want to venture up and not be able to even fish. that would be a bummer. also i just have to say i have been cruising this site and your home page and have to say that you are one of the luckiest guys out there to be able to make your living doing what we all love so much, and being dang good at it too take care jim
kjgmh
Thinking of going after some crappies on Tuesday, does anyone have an ice report. Are they driving trucks out yet?
Dooley87
our nieghboor up there told us that he has seen trucks out there but that was before the snow and apparetly there is around 18" of snow on the lake now and when the snow came it was still slushy so if there is 18" of snow on top of slush better have a truck with lots of traction. we are coming up this weekend and it will be my first time on the lake this winter, will report back with how the fishing was and lake conditions. Dooley87
just got back home, the lake was very tough to travel becauise of the slush, some spots would have excess of 6" of water under the snow but the lake is really starting to firm up. be carefull out on the trails across the lake because spots were sleds have driven through slush have now frozen and are very bumpy and rough to travel (surprised i didn't break anything) but the fishing was good.we went out the first night and go two nice eater walleyes then the next two days we went out after crappies and got some nice ones but they were really hard to stay on top of and they were very wary, but i was able to put together a nice lunch of crappies and walleyes for the family. all in all a nice weekend aside from the slush
