Moose-Hunter
After re-reading the regs, it seems as I might be spliting hairs with the letter of the law...Can I use a electronic caller that is "wireless"? Meaning a controller in my hand and the speaker a few yards away with no cords between the two?As long as we're talking electronics... How about mechanical decoys? Can they be used (legally) to get a yodel dogs attention? How about if they are remotely controlled?
FlyingV
You bet you can! Electronic callers with radio frequency remote controls are legal to use for predator hunting in Mn. The remote controls became legal just this year. Electronic decoys are legal as well but, the remote controlled ones may not be since the language of the law only addresses "noise callers". My decoy will run either way but I don't use the remote function as it's just another wire to mess with in the cold! I just turn it on and let it run while using the remote to control only the e-caller.
picksbigwagon
You are correct about the caller FlyingV, if I am not mistaken, weren't you one of the driving forces behind that change in legislation???
FlyingV
Yes, Picks, I "helped" a little. It was a really a group effort though! Proof that the squeaky wheel gets the grease! Stay tuned for more activity on "The Hill" to help us predator hunters! -Another hunter is making contact with his legislators this week to get "it" going. picksbigwagon
what are we doing this year? I made multiple calls and sent about a dozen letters last year. I had other friends from around the state doing the same.....Are we getting the "mandatory spousal release time" I mentioned last year? Keep us updated, or I am sure I will relay what is happening on here too.......
FlyingV
I'll let you know in a week or two. You can PM me about it over at the "predator masters" HSOforum....It's really a small deal...

I read through your posts regarding the issue over on P.M..... I do believe a word of THANKS is in order for your efforts!!! You'll know me by my handle "MnYoteRookie". I thought it quite fitting as this is my first "real" season chasing yodel dogs...
FlyingV
You're welcome Moose!Walleye101, we will be posting about it. As soon as our guy gets to meet with his legislators, and they agree to author it, and they originate the appropriate Bill #'s, we will tell the world about it. Until that happens, there really is nothing to support so your legislators would not know anything about it or even how to find out about it. If our guy's legislators don't agree with it, then we will need to find others who will! Give us a week or two to get it going and we will let you know. It's really a small change to current law. RBuker
FlyingV,Don't be so humble. You are the one that carried the remote law change. It's your persistant ways that got it through.Keep up the good work. Now if you could just get rifles at night with lights... (that one still sticks in my craw.)
