phishandpheasant
The strikemaster hole heater is awesome and works very well. Sometimes too well!!!!! I use it in my permanent to keep the holes open. I just move it from hole to hole if they skim over. Unit extends for those that have sleeves instead of drop downs. Runs off a vex battery. Works awesome outside as well. Kept my hole ice free all day at the Brainerd Extravaganza. Much easier than charlcoal/can and no mess when done. minnbowhunter
lol, right on, nothing keeps the hole open like a constant flow of game fish thru it.

Gator Slayer
I had a heat pump--great idea--poor execution. the plastic is very thin and can break if you hit it with the tip-up spool pulling it out. or if you don't set it aside "gently" I am going to try a 25 watt aquarium heater this year. Just working on how to rig it.

Shack
A little alcohol never hurts . But seriously, in the past I have used candles in perm and porty to keep hole open. You have to be very careful not to burn line though . I am going to be using fans in porty this year and hope this will help. If so, I will add them in perm, under floor boards. I use a Finicky’s Fish Factory for tip up and as long as I change heater fluid or candle, it will keep a hole open for days on end.
