alright guys, i bought my flasher today, and i was wondering how many of you guys have the s cable for use in shallow water locations since it doesnt have the low power mode? will it substantially help or is it still relatively easy to establish bottom without it? ill be checking this week myself, but i was wondering what you guys thought.

I had purchased two s-cables at one time, one for the se, the other for the slt.

Bottom lock was never the problem, what I wanted them for was looking into weeds. Unfortunately it was so low (pwr) that I had a hard time picking up the jig, and to be able to see it I had to turn the gain up. By that time it looked like Christmas lights flashing all over.

I probably should have given it more time than I did, but I returned them and fished for years successfully w/o.

I don't think you need it. I don't have one on mine.

If you wanted to fish in weeds I'd recommend the smaller cone transducer over the "S" cable. If you had any sepecific questions about how they work I'd contact Vexilar directly and see what they say. I think they also have a FAQ area on their site which might help you.
