bad transducer?

i have and fl8 that i think has a bad transducer is there any way this can be fixed or anything else i can do without buying a new one?

Contact Vexilar. I personaly own a marcum but before I bought mine i did a lot of research on Vex and Marcum. One thing that many told me was Vex has good customer service. I think I read about someone that had a bad transducer (just like you). He contacted Vex and they had him ship it to them and they installed a new transducer free of charge, the only thing he had to pay for was the S/H.

They are actually pretty cheap. Check with your local bait shop or someone like Gander or Cabellas.

Why do you think the ducer is bad? What are the symptoms?

They will break/wear out over time. I have replaced a few. Mine usually just stopped showing a bottom signal.

On the FL-8 you simply unscrew the nut on the connector at the back of the unit and plug in another ducer. That is always a good way to check to see if the ducer is the issue...swap yours with another known good one and see if you get a signal...even pointing at the floor you should get a signal on the dial.

I called Vexilar last week and asked them about my Fl-18 because it wouldn't show anything except the green at the zero mark. They told me to try a good transducer that I knew worked and if it still didn't work to send the actual unit in. I bought a new tranducer for $65 and now the vex works great!
