Where do you live? You could take the unit right to Vex yourself and they would probably fix it while you wait.

I'd call them first though to make sure, but they have a great service dept located in Bloomington.

Icenutt -

I'm guessing that you are using the 19 degree iceducer, right? With that wide cone you are looking at too much area in 100 ft. You need to get a narrower (12 or 9 degree) cone. Just like you said, to see your lure you have to turn up the gain so high you get a lot of clutter and it is useless. With the narrow cone you eliminate that. I have used a 9 degree cone as deep as 130 ft with great results. Nothing like seeing those lakers coming up off the bottom to chase your lure!

I'm taking my new Fl-18 out in deep water this weekend. I can't wait to see how it performs. The 12 degree ducer is new to me, so I am interested in how it will perform compared to the 9.

those vexilars sure are nice. With a little bit of practice you'll be catching more fish than you have ever imagined! Just some helpful advice, if you don't see fish on the vexiar, than move!!! those things DO NOT lie. good fishin to ya

fish can b outside of your cone viewing area, thats w i always start off with a lure that will attract fish like a pimple or angle eye jr. to bring them in if they don't bite(depending what mood their n) i will switch to my go to lures (marmooska or buckshoot spoon or lali or what is your favorite lure is,this works for me,but if the fish r on the pimple or the angel eye will nail them!

My fishin partner has had a vexilar for 3 years now. I have used it quite a bit. He recently bought a Marcum LX3. It is much like the FL 18 but seems better. The line showing your bait is always there and not fading in and out, and is a thin defined line. The zoom mode is a selectable 5ft. or 10ft. And the best thing about it is you can put it wherever you want it. Say you are fishing 25' of water and some crappies come in at 18'. you can set the split screen/zoom to 5' and set it to see between 15' and 20'. It's cool!

Just got back from LOW and would not have caught anywhere near the # of fish, especially walleye, without the vex. We were in 31' of water and occasionaly we would mark fish 10-20' off the bottom. These often turned out to be big aggressive walleyes that would smack your lure as soon as it was in front of them. No way you can do that without good electronics.

I got a fl-8 in 1996 and it works well enough for me. I do real well with it.there is no way I would want to go without it. I fish on the bottom then pull up a foot or two and this seems to work pretty well.if the crappie are way up high no problem just pull up above them and they hit it.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
