Well it looks like we will be icefishing soon on Crow Lake, and Lake of the Woods. I wanted to mention that you won't need passports until maybe June 2008 and even then it might not go into effect. Looking forward to seeing everyone and to go fishing again.

Hey Bill, yes, we have had quite a bit of snow in the past week or so. I would guess we are in the neighborhood of 7-8" here. We've also had a really nice cold snap here, with temps going to -10 (F) and not getting much warmer than 0 in the day.

We will hope for the best.

Justin, Clearwater Bay is one of the last parts of the lake to freeze (next to Whitefish Bay). On my way past it yesterday, it was still open.

Slush will most likeley be an issue for early ice travel.

I was hoping it wasn't frozen yet. You are right, this snow is bad news. I have been checking ice conditions here and there hasn't been any new ice formed since last Thursday. How much snow do you have up there?

I'd say we are now up to about 1 foot of snow here. Some tracks on LOTW at the landing where the ice road starts, but not too many. Still haven't heard any reports of ice on LOTW, aside from the obvious where I can see it's open.

Out on Stevens Bay on Lake of the Woods people have been going out. The Temp has been consist of -15 below farenheit. As of right now there is no slush and Crow Lake is still making ice. We will try to keep everyone updated.

We have quite a crew coming to Musky Bay the first weekend of Jan!! Can't wait. The ice around here on the bigger lakes are quite sketchy. Snow messed it up. Can't wait to get up there.

How is the ice shaping up around Kenora? I will be up in your neck of the woods the first part of January. Going to be spending alot of time up there this winter- I hope the ice will be good by then! I am really getting the Lake Trout itch!!!! laugh.gif

Justin, sorry for the delay, been away for a couple of days. Ice is not great. Snowmobile travel only right now, which isn't so bad. Might be a while before we see a decent ice road.

Where are you going to be ice fishing for Lakers? Kenora area, or south by Sioux Narrows?

I fish out on Clearwater Bay. I am usually out there with Jeff Gustafson. Maybe I will see you out there this winter!

Take Care and keep me updated on the ice conditions. I have snowmobiles, so I am hoping to get up there the first part of January.
