spear foot 1
I was just wondering if anybody on this awesome spearing site has any good spearing Ideas for the walker\longville area.I have access to a cabin up there and was looking for spearing spot. One lake on the map that looked good was ox yoke lake. But I'm not familiar with the area so any help would be grateful. Thanks
Meat-Run
I was also thinking the same question. But its more for my now retired father who has a lake home on Leech. Can you spear on Leech or not. Any input would be great. No worries about us setting up on your spots or anything because IF we do go spearing it may only be one or two times this year in a portable.thanks,mr
frummybear
Meat-Run you can spear leech lake. There are quite a few spots we have speared nice pike in. Just hit one of the bays and you should be alright!!
Scott M
If you want some good action Ox Yoke and Webb can be pretty good. There are some monsters in Mule and Blackwater. The old baitshop by Mule used to have pictures of some giants that were taken on that lake. A couple muskies were taken too (angling). Not much for numbers but definitely some nice sizes. You can't go wrong with many lakes up that way. They either have numbers or size on pike. It's just a really great place as far as the resource goes...clear and productive waters. Like no other in the state. You can find good walleye, bass, pike, or panfish lakes anywhere in that area. spear foot 1
Thanks for the info.Chisel, Being there are muskies in mule can you spear on that lake???
Scott M
Mule and Blackwater get the occasional muskie. It's believed to be transplants, cause they weren't stocked there. Blackwater has some Ciscos in it and both lakes have very abundant game fish populations, so I'm sure they could do well. There are lots of lakes around Longville that have historically had musky.Spearing is open on both lakes. There is excellent clarity and some really good vegetation. If you're out for size and do decide to try Mule or Blackwater, on Mule I'd try the north end narrows or one of the steep transitions on the east or west shorelines. On Blackwater, there are some good reed patches to set up next to a 67 foot drop off. It is a STEEP dropoff. I would try there if I was a betting man. Covey
Has anyone tried Pine lake? It is located about 2 miles south of Leech near Whipolt on Hwy 200. I've fish that lake every summer. It's very clear, good weeds and lots of pike. Wondering if anyone has tried it?
JoeTC
Tried spearing in Walker Bay this past weekend but the water was quite cloudy, although I still managed two fish. Did I just hit a bad spot or does walker bay get like that? Anyone have any suggestions on other areas of leech to try spearing?ThanksJoe
