Lowrance 522 for ice fishing

berfish

Question

I have the lowrance 522i and want to use it in my truck for the mapping capabilities. Have any of you done this before by powering the unit with the cig lighter accessory plug? Do they sell this type of cable on the lowrance site? I contacted them but haven't heard back yet. Thanks.

Beerfish, you can purchase fused 12 volt dc receptacles for car lighters that have leads coming off of them. I bought one at Radioshack last year to run a 334 out of the car. I removed the female spades, replaced with male spades to plug into the 334. I'm pretty sure this will work with a 522 as well. Mine was an ice machine, so it had power leads with female spade plugs to hook up to the batteries terminals.

Your better off just buying the LEI cig plug.

I have my LMS332C set up on an old wood Genz box, using a RAM mount.

I then just lay the reciever on the dash, and plug in the unit to the extra power port.

The box sits on the transmision tunnel in the front, with the large 2 inch x 6 inch tall Ram mount it is perfect hieght to see and not be in the road of the radio or heater controls.

It works great, but I need to get a better system to mount the reciever as it will slide off the dash when you stomp the gas to catch the flock of geese your chasing.

I can send you some pictures tomorrow night if you give me your email addy.

Thanks for the replies. That is a good idea with the goose scouting with the GPS...never thought of that. I ended up buying the cig lighter adapter. I am going to buy another ram mount base and mount it on my marcum case some how. I want to use it in the truck and when I am walking out on the lake....which seems like most of the ice season here in the metro.

Thicken ice!
