Neat ideas to "trick out" your Fish House?

I like "dinging" around with things, so I was wondering what little extras you have added to your houses?

Going to pick up the house before the big snowstorm this weekend, so just wondering what you guys have done.

Last year I "sheeted" out the inside with paneling. Any other things you have seen or have done yourself?

Pics would be GREAT!

Thanks

Hitman

Well lets see I got my floor insulated witch was a lot of work for some reason I thought I was just going to put some sheets under there and be done with it I think I had over 20 to 25 sections I had to cut out so am very glad I got that done this week end and cleaned it all up got a couple more pictures hung up and now am working on my surrond sound system I just picked up. I will have to see about getting some photos of it posted the house is pretty sweet I must say. I like it better then my home and is a lot cleaner too hehehe, The only thing next I have to try to figure how to put a shower in it and running water for the sink, but that will be next years project so if any one has put a shower in there house I would love to see some pictures to see how it turned out and how you did it.

i have done a few things to my fish trap scout... I mounted some rod holders on the sled next to the chair and made a rack behind me to hold my heater up...keeps your seat nice and warm behind you! Cant think of anything else i have done and i dont have a perm shack.

Hmm are talking about insulating the floor of a perm? this might make sense because you can keep some of the cold from the ice away and keep heat in so you dont melt the ice under you grin.gif many people end up being stuck to the ice at the end of the year this may help with that also. makes sense to me!

Ya am talking about the floor in my perm. I don't know how it is in your fish house but I was having a problem with the top half of my house rosting and the bottom half cooler witch meant the person sleeping in the top bed was roosting and the guy in the bottom bed was perfect. Now I did mount some fans last year and it did helped but didn't solve the problem know I hope to feel a big difrence.

Hey Ryan, do you have any photos of the "rack" you made? I'm just looking for ideas. Also what do you heat it with? Lantern? I just picked up a used scout.

Ya I have a ceiling fan and it helped a lot but there was still a diffrence I mean you are seating on a gaint ice cube and insalating your floor they say will help.I will make sure to let you know if its worth it or not at the end of the year

Once you open a hole cover, it all goes out the window anyways. I would try some of that thin stuff you put under wood flooring on concrete. It seems cheap enough.

I started spray foaming mine and found out (even with bulk can) it was going to easier said than done. I stopped and never finished (at least I did bunk and futon side). I think insulation under floor boards and in between joyces , just becomes critter home space after time.

After six to 10 hours of warming a frozen house, mine is cozy for the rest of the weekend.

I have carpet in mine.

I am going to do the foam sheeting thing too, but I can get it inside and warm it up when I am doing it. Has anyone ever done this is there a down side to this? I went to Home Depot and looked at adhesives and they had plenty that could be used on foam. Anyone ever done this?

Sure have, worked great for me. I believe I used P-40 as my glue...not sure about that, been awhile. I then used wood screws with large plastic fender washers to help hold it up. I'm going on three years now, and looks like I did it yesterday. No problems yet. I used the expensive foil backed foam...

I bank really good, but you always get a couple of snake holes and seeping along house. Fresh air is good.

I just never put the extra effort in insulating under the floor. I spend all weekend with 3 to 8 12"x12" holes open to the ice and snow below and I never seen the sense. Now if you use yours in summer and have A/C or use it as a hunting shack on land during fall, insulation could be a feasible thing. Then you would have to insulate under covers and seal them tight. But one could ask, "why insulate the shack at all". If you have the means and the will, I would insulate under the shack.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
