VMS
Wondering about experiences, population, resorts, etc. Wife and I might add a second summer trip, and this area has piqued my interest to an extent. Any info that you are willing to supply is well appreciated. Ive never been in that area before, but it looks downright beautiful. Are there good Hydro maps available as well? Thanks.Steve
Hemlock
Hey Steve, I'm no expert on Minaki, but I may as well chime in. It's a mere 35 miles north of Kenora on the Winnipeg River (LOTW's outflow)As far as I know muskies are abundant, as are walleye and pike. I sell, as do many stores the hydro charts for Minaki, and slightly further north. They are very good, produced by the feds. Just like the LOTW charts for navigation. Best guess would be to search it out on the web and draw a conclusion from that.
MuskyBrian
I can tell you this...I have fished LOTW, Eagle, Wabigoon, Many other Canadian Lakes, Vermilion, Mille Lacs....I spent 5 days in Minaki. Biggest Fish I have ever seen/caught? Minaki 2nd biggest fish in that 5 day span also makes my top 5..ever You won't see as many fish as on LOTW, but if you find the pattern you will see enough to keep you busy. The resorts are nothing special, Roughrock Lodge is one to look at but I believe they are high priced. Paradise Cove Resort is where I stayed...descent cabins, very affordable, bad boats, little-to-no help in terms of fishing knowledge or resort help. Minaki also really offers nothing in terms of a "town". With that being said, if I ever make a Musky trip to anywhere other then Andy Meyers Lodge, that is where I would go. Several other people I know feel this is where the biggest Muskies are in that entire shield area, it is kinda under the radar of LOTW but very much worth it

I am not a Muskie fisherman but we have been going to their outposts for 6 yrs. A firt rate organization and they don't come better than Alex and Pat. Good luck and tell them Kirk sent you. Alex comes to the big show in Minneapolis in Januarty if you want to see him there.
