BIG northerns on BIG bucktails?

I have a little lake that used to be great for oversized gators and still has a few. Anyways, for those of you throwing the big double bladed bucktails for muskies lately, have you been picking up bonus big northerns as well? Guess what I'm asking is if it seems they select for bigger northerns than standard musky/northern lures. Thanks.

If you're going now, make it easy, pick the most distinct deep water structure and go with a red tail on a jig. That simple. Whatever the biggest of any species is in the lake, that's how I'd go.

In general, Mille Lacs does prodcuce a lot of big northerns for the muskie anglers throwing big baits, look no further than Vineland Bay. Over the course of a year, go with the 3/4oz or 1oz spinnerbait, or I like the old standby Johnson silver minnow. Single hook is easier, and with the 1oz size you can increase the profile and action with the trailer. Smaller tails all the way up to a 6 inch Shaker.

Mid-size buck tails too, but in my opinion the big big baits should be 2nd to the mid-size stuff. Besides, 5/0 trebles make shredded cheese of a pikes mouth sometimes.
